Palo stumbled forward, ears perked, nares wide. The young colt heard some water, and wandered towards it, scent and hearing leading him. He sniffed gently at the river and slowly plunged his muzzle in, slurping thirstily. Once he was satisfied, Palo nibbled at some grass near the stream. Not his favourite, but atleast he had some nourishment. The cremello turned, sniffing at the ground. He came to a tree's base, sniffing it, making sure it was safe. He laid down quietly, tucking his knobby foal legs in and laying his head down. After a little bit a fawn snuggled by his side, also an orphan. Palo didn't stir, just nibbled affectionately at the young fawn. Then, he laid his head down, ears and nares still perked.

A light palomino pelt streaked through the trees, the filly's nostril's flared as she came to a halt at the edge of a river. She pricked her long ears at a noise coming from the other side, a little to the side. She snorted in surprized as she spotted a colt on the other side. Without thinking, Melony plunged into the cool water, when she was in the middle, the dark blue water lapped around her neck. She stretched her head up high to keep it out of the water. The current tugged at her legs, but she kept on. Before long, she was dragging herself out on the other bank. She shook loose water droplets from her pelt, and continued on to walk straight up to the colt. She whinnied softly in greeting and dipped her head respectfully. "Hello!" She nickered softly, her voice giving away her quiet expression.

Palo thought he heard a slight whirring water noise. It was clarified by the fawn leaping to his feet and striking the young buck's stomach in his effort to escape. Palo gave a suprised whistle and a grunt, and when he lifted his head he smashed into another skull. He leapt to his feet, ears perked and nares wide. "Who's there?" He said, silver-blue eyes flashing with curiousity. The cremello-pelted colt stretched his maw out, sniffing about the filly, nares an inch or two from her pelt. Just by using his scences, he could tell 3 things: a young dove, palomino coat, not a threat. He gave a warm smile. "Uh...h-hi. I'm Palo...who're you?

Melony jumped back in surprize..."Hi! I'm Melony!" She paused, "I didn't mean to scare you...is something the matter?" She asked warmly. She pricked her ears as she noticed a fawn jumping away hurridly, she cleched her teeth. Whoops... she thought. Maybe I should be a little less quiet next time.. She shook her head and looked on to the colt for a reply. She searched his face, an unreadable expression on it.

"Oh, hi Melony. Nothing's the matter," Palo said, a smile on his maw. The colt's expressionless eyes searched the filly's eyes blanky. "Are you alone, like me?" He asked, opening his nares wide. He smelt no does or stags. The colt gently sniffed the filly, and gave a small giggle, leaping away. His scenes almost made up for his blindness as he turned back towards Melony, play-bowing like a dog. He leapt forward and nipped her shoulder gently. "You're it!" He laughed, dodging away playfully.

She tilted her head slightly. "Yes, I'm alone." She replied softly. She pricked her ears forward as she jumped at him, she shot back quickly then jumped forward. "Hey!" She took off at first a canter, then her stride quickening almost to a gallop. She caught up to the colt easily. Melony touched her muzzle to his should quickly. "Got you!" She nickered, taking off at a canter.

Palo squealed happily, laughing as he leapt and dodged. He felt the fae tap him on his shoulder and he wheeled around, giving a little play-rear and chasing after her. His mane and tail flew back as he took chase. His gangly legs flew out, lengthening strides. Using his senses, he could navigate his way. At the last moments he maneuvered around trees, following the soft thud-thud of Melony's hooves. He finally got close, leaping forward. But he miss-read the length between them, and instead of tagging her, he crashed into her, tubling down a small, grassy hill. As they rolled to a stop Palo laughed, rolling free onto his back and striking the air with his hooves happily. He rolled so he was laying, then got up, trotting to Melony and looking down at her. "You ok?" He asked, a wide smile on his maw.

She tumbled over and over, finally stopping she lifted her head and shook the dizyness from her. "Fine, fine, you?" she whinnied softly, touching her muzzle to his shoulder before she jumped to her feet. She looked into the nearby water and walked towards it. She lowered her head and drank from it slowly, her ears focused on the colt, she drank her fill and lifted her head, "C'mon!" She nickered, then began wading into the water.

Palo smiled. "I'm good." He shook his coat and ran his maw down his legs and back, making sure he didn't get hurt. Finding nothing, he took a few nibbles of grass as Melony walked to the water. "Comin'!" He said, prancing towards Melony's voice. As his feet hit the unexpected water he let out a little squeal, but stopped short as he realized what it was. He leapt in, taking a quick sip and following Melony.

Melony snorted as Palo jumped in behind her, she sqealed and splashed water on him. She plunged forward into the blue pond, the small current tugged at her fur. "Care to swim? I think there's a pond down there, which means, no current." Melony glanced down the river, she took a couple more steps. The current almost swept her off her feet. The water lapped over her head, she tried to turn back, but she slipped on the muddy footing, she plundged under the flowing river. When her head bobbed up, she did all she could think of. "Palo! Follow me!" She whinnied as loud as she could. She knew she was heading downstream, so she could now find out whether the pond was there or not.

Palo laughed as she splashed water at him. "O-okay..." He said, ignoring a slight rumble he heard. He picked his way blindly towards Melony, but when he heard her squeal, he leapt after her, large legs paddling viciously through the water. The tide quickened; a large rumble came into earshot. Palo's eyes widened. It was what he feared. It was probably still far; he had ears like a mouse. He turned to his side, floating quickly downriver and infront of Melony. He dived under her and put her on his back, peddling to shore with a struggle. He pounced to shore, dumping Melony off, and panting. He laid down, closing his eyes and giving a sigh of relief.

She grunted as she fell on the grass. "Thank you.." She said quietly, her fur soaked to to her skin. She rested her head on the ground, and closed her eyes, taking in the warm sun. She lifted her head and stared into the colt's eyes..."Palo....are you...blind?" She didn't want to sound rude, but she was curious. She laid her head down again and awaited an answer.

Palo opened his eyes lazily. "Well, you're welcome...I guess," He said, not used to being thanked. He laid quietly for a moment until the fae asked her question. "What's it to ya?!" Palo said, without thinking. He cleared his throat. "Sorry, it kinda...came out. But yes, I'm blind." He got up and grazed, blank eyes running over the filly's figure. The colt shook here and there from time to time, but all of his scences were focused on Melony. His coat was dripping with water, slashing getnly on the lush green shoots below. An irritated expression was plastered on the colt's face.

She looked away, "Sorry Palo, I didn't mean to upset you..." She heaved herself to her feet and held her head low, his response almost shocked her. "Palo, I couldn't even tell," she murmured, shifting closer to him. "You're pretty cool," she nuzzled his shoulder affectionately, her wall eye locked on his. Then another dreadful question came from her. "Palo, did you used to be in a herd?" She clenched her teeth wondering what her response would be. "I-I did.." -+-She held her head low-+-

"It's....it's fine," Palo said, looking away. He looked towards Melony. [/b][i]"It's just...my father hated me as a foal..well, younger foal...and they abandonded me." A few silver tears trickled down his cheek and plopped to the ground. He lifted his head, showing her his blue-white eyes."I was with my parents- well, mom, atleast, 'til I was 3 months old. Then, they left. So, no, I guess I wasn't in a herd." Palo's eyes flickered towards Melony."What about you?"
